Parliament of Owls is one of the optional texts from which questions
will be set for KCSE. It is one of the optional texts being handled
alongside “An Artist of the floating world” and “the silent song and
other stories”. A question from this text will account for twenty (20)
marks in English paper three. For a student to score better in this area,
you should have a good grasp of the requirements of the question and to
handle it in the manner that it is supposed to be.

your KCSE examination. Remember the most important thing to you as
a candidate at the examination time is nothing but marks. Collect all the

Preparation to answer questions from the text
It is important that you get a copy of the text and read it through so
that you interact with the contents of the text. Any essay question to
be answered will require you to provide textual evidence; therefore it is
paramount that you have read the text well
You have to study the text well, and more importantly analyzing it
through the various episodes and making a synthesis of various literary
aspects such as themes, characterization and to get the items of morality
brought out by the author.
