Functional and conversation skills (60 marks)
1. Functional writing composition – 20 marks
2. Cloze test – 10 marks
3. Oral skills – 30 marks
Paper 2: Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 – (Answer all questions)
Comprehensions and Grammar (80 marks)
1. Comprehension passage (unseen text) – 20 marks
2. Comprehension excerpt (compulsory set text) – 25 marks
3. Comprehension oral poetry/song/narrative – 20 marks
4. Grammar – 15 marks
Paper 3: Sections 1, 2 and 3 – (Answer three questions)
Essay writing (60 marks)
1. Imaginative composition – 20 marks
2. Compulsory set text essay – 20 marks
3. Optional set text essay – 20 marks
There are six specific questions in Paper 3. You will answer only three as instructed.
• Questions 1, a or b, is compulsory. Choose One question: either a or b.
• Question 2 is an essay based on compulsory set book: novel or play.
• In question 3 choose only one from the optional set texts you have studied.
• There are three questions based on optional set book: short stories anthology,
novel and play.
